Troubled Waters

Been messing with some political themes; This is the sketch (acrylics) for my "Troubled Waters". I'm working on a full size rendering (about 4x7' panel, oils) of Leutze's "Washington Crossing the Delaware". Instead of old George strongly directing while everybody on the boats pulls for the other side, I'm spoofing with President Obama confidently deciding on a direction while his boat (the United States) is crewed by a collection of prominent American political figures eagerly beating the shit out of each other. Thought I'd replace the river-ice with drowning Americans, put some press with cameras on the other boats in the original image.
